Accreditation

The Education Unit works closely with the Professional Development and Learning Committee and the Visitation Committee to assess:

  • Applications from new schools of pharmacy for accreditation of their pharmacy degree course
  • Ongoing recognition and accreditation of existing pharmacy degree courses
  • Accreditation of a pharmacy degree course involves regularly visiting the school of pharmacy and reviewing course curricula and facilities. Standards are assessed against the PSI’s published accreditation criteria, which take account of EU and international requirements, to ensure consistency in undergraduate training across all schools of pharmacy in Ireland .

Accreditation of new and existing schools is granted by the Council of the PSI.
