DECLARATION OF RESULTS FOR 2009 ELECTION FOR APPOINTMENT TO PSI COUNCIL
In accordance with PSI (Council) Rules 2008, the returning officer Dr Ambrose McLoughlin, PSI Registrar, has declared the following five pharmacists as elected for the purposes of Section 10(3)(f) of the Pharmacy Act 2007, for appointment by the Minister for Health and Children to the PSI Council:

The returning officer shall now give notice in writing to the Minister of the names of the pharmacists that have been elected, for the purposes of Section 10(3)(f) of the Pharmacy Act 2007, for appointment to the PSI Council.
In accordance with Rule 14, the list of persons to be included in a panel for the filling of certain vacancies on Council, is as follows, in decreasing order of the total number of votes cast for each candidate:

The counting of votes in the 2009 election of pharmacists for appointment to the PSI Council for five vacancies took place on Thursday 16 April 2009 at the D4 Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.
FURTHER INFORMATION ON ELECTION FOR APPOINTMENT PROCESS 2009
Five pharmacist members of Council, appointed by the Minister for Health and Children on 22 May 2007 under Section 10(3)(f) of the Pharmacy Act 2007, were appointed for a two-year term (ending 21 May 2009). They are Cormac Deasy, Dr William Boles, Brendan Hayes, Professor Peter Weedle and Paul Fahey. Therefore a selection procedure will be carried out as per PSI (Council) Rules 2008 to select pharmacists for appointment to Council. The results of this election process are posted above. The Minister will also be making six further appointments to Council for the purposes of Section 10(3)(a)-(e), i.e. non-pharmacist members of Council, to six vacancies arising from terms of office ending on 21 May 2009.
